About With Caring Arms

Owner: B.J. Armstead

I have worked in the Senior Living Community for a little over a decade. I started off in the maintenance field in 2005 in hotels because I was good at fixing problems for people and I loved it. In 2013 I started working at  Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Rehab Facilities and soon I found that I was always pulled towards the senior community. The feeling of helping the Seniors in these Facilities was overwhelming and I knew I wanted to keep helping. In 2017 I asked to help in a start up of a new Assisted Living, Memory Care. Over the years I have seen and learned a lot about how the Senior Communities Should work and Should not  work. I have helped multiple positions at different communities to try and better the lives of the seniors living there, but I was always told to "STAY IN MY LANE" and could  never help as much as I wanted to. Never overlooking the passion in my heart to make a difference and help make Seniors lives better. I did not give up and continued to do what he could to help. Communicating with families and helping them through hard situations on my own, organizing events, working with local organizations and communities to help the Seniors and their Families in any way I could. Now I have decided to make a difference without being told to "STAY IN MY LANE". The Senior Living Community is MY LANE and I will help make it as Safe, Loving, and Stress free as possible for the Seniors and their Families on their Senior Living Journey.

Volunteer: Douglas Armstead

Douglas has always expressed a passion for helping seniors and their families. Starting out working in housekeeping and then the kitchen at an assisted living memory care community he was exceptionally good with the families and residence even while just being a kitchen helper. In doing his day-to-day duties he would always make time to talk and get to know the residence and put smiles on their faces. The amazing part about the situation in the memory care community is that most of the residence actually would remember him by name and by face. Generally lighting up when he came around. Douglas took the time with the residence to help them through the day any way he could. Increasing his want and passion to do more for them he went on to become the activities assistant in which he excelled in helping the residence enjoy each day more and more. The families of the residence of the community always loved talking with Douglas and appreciated what he was doing for their loved ones. It was one of these family members that communicate the need for help at a local church respite, and the family member stated he would be perfect for that Activities position. Now Douglas is doing activities at the local church respite where he excels every day in the members happiness, fun and mental healing. Douglas still finds time to go and visit the residence from the community he worked at. He goes around to the different communities and still lights their faces every time he walks in. Douglas is a extremely valuable volunteer to With Caring Arms and I am eternally grateful to call him my brother.
